Voorthuizen

A new branch of care franchise de Herbergier recently opened in the middle of the village of Voorthuizen in Gelderland. For René and Edith Til, owners Herbergier Voorthuizen, this is a dream come true. ‘In this small-scale residential care complex for people with dementia - housed in a characteristic building from 1903 - there is room for sixteen residents and we can propagate our own view of care and people: that residents should be able to retain control of their own lives for as long as possible and be facilitated in this as well and lovingly as possible.’

Characteristic ‘For this challenge, the care entrepreneurs quit their jobs and moved,’ says Karen Textor, account manager Care Cure at Lensen. 'We were asked to shape this challenge in terms of furnishing and interior design. The building has undergone a major renovation, preserving its beautiful, characteristic features. René and Edith visited the showroom in Zaltbommel several times and the cooperation was not limited to furniture advice. Lensen was also involved in selecting the kitchen, the lighting and the total finishing of floors and walls.' Inviting character The interior still features the original fireplace and old, architectural elements, among other things. Miranda Janssen, interior designer deStudio: ‘We translated the character of the building into the interior. The authentic fireplace is the shining centrepiece here. On one side, ‘high’ seating is situated and on the other side of the room, lounging is the theme, with a television corner and comfortable armchairs. The green kitchen harmonises with the atmospheric wallpaper and large glass area. The design emphasises the small-scale concept by using everyday materials, offering diversity in seating options and decorating with details and mood creators'. Residents have their own flat and use the communal living room. This includes a homely environment, with an eye for user-friendliness and an inviting character.' Well-being of residents Throughout the project, René and Edith remained critical and alert, making the design even better. 'The well-being of the residents comes first. Little by little, we saw what we came up with together emerge. The wallpaper, the floor, the kitchen, the lamps and the furniture. How beautiful it turned out! Even more beautiful than we thought. It all matches so beautifully. Thank you for the beautiful result and the cooperation!'
