Sint Maarten in de Groe is one of the newest locations in Goes and closely linked to the Ter Weel Goes location. The fresh and colourful residential care centre was designed and furnished with the ‘new’ elderly and the changing demand in care in mind. There are 65 spacious single flats available in this modern building on Beukenstraat.
Interview with Marianne Lavieren and Debbie van de Goor Marianne Lavieren, assistant manager Hospitality Services at care group Ter Weel, says that at Sint Maarten in the Groe, a conscious decision was made to have a Grand Café instead of a restaurant. ‘A Grand Café is a place where people can meet and enjoy a snack and a drink. Of course, everyone can also come here for lunch or a hot meal. Clients can meet each other here, but people from the neighbourhood are also welcome!’
Debbie van de Goor, senior account manager at Lensen Projectinrichters, says: ‘The Grand Café has to have a cosy feel. It does not have the look of a restaurant. The floor does not indicate a division of space; it is indicated by the furniture. Various seating areas have been created with upholstered chairs and wooden chairs, long benches with high backs for undisturbed enjoyment, a reading table with good lighting and tables that can easily be transformed into standing tables. In the lounge area, you can enjoy a snack, a drink or a book by the fireplace. The Grand Café invites fitness visitors to have another drink or take a seat in the lounge area for a while.’ Natural materials were chosen for the furnishings. ‘The wood from the floor returns in the lamps and the partition between the reading table and the Grand Café consists of felt,’ Marianne says.
“The Grand Café has to have a cosy feel”
Marianne and Debbie are confident that this Grand Café will become the meeting place for the neighbourhood. That people will be attracted by the look of the building and the possibilities of the Grand Café.
